Christmas In July at Monash Volunteer Resource Centre
Christmas came early for about 80 people who attended Christmas in July at the Highways Tabaret. Monash Volunteer Resource Centre organised the function for their HACC clients. They were treated to a delectable 3 course Christmas lunch surrounded by Christmas decorations, a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and carols.
As well as Christmas entertainment which included a singing group who performed carols as well as other much loved songs, Father Christmas made a brief appearance and spread his good cheer to everyone at the venue. Phyllis and Lorys celebrated a significant birthday and together with Father Christmas, birthday celebrations were sung by everyone.
At the end of the afternoon, clients went into a lucky draw where 14 prizes were drawn. These included a number of fruit baskets, chocolates and other donated goods. One of the fruit baskets were won by Anita who was very overwhelmed as this was the very first time she had ever won a prize of any sort.
Special thanks went to the entertainers, Father Christmas, staff from the hotel and the volunteer drivers and jockeys who transported everyone.
Evaluations of the day clearly indicated that everyone had a wonderful time and were looking forward to the next functionuded the five percent who were from a culturally and linguistically diverse background (CALD).
