Knox Community Volunteers September Update
Knox Community Volunteers had a successful morning recruiting volunteers for HACC services down at Knox City bus depot during the Official Opening of the tram and bus link to Knox City on Saturday July 23rd. We provided a sausage sizzle for those attending the event, including the Minister for Transport, Mr Peter Bachelor. Many volunteers stopped by to look at our boards which featured all our HACC positions. A couple of the new volunteers were actually under the impression that the balloons marquee and bus laid on were connected with advertising for KCV. Nice if you could get it!
Three of our Planned Activity Groups attended a joint Christmas in July function at Wheeler's Hill Hotel and we had raffles, a large Christmas meal and some musical entertainment for everyone. One volunteer, who shall remain nameless,
actually managed three Christmas puds! The view from the glass dome at Wheelers Hill is spectacular and with the rain followed by bright sunshine it was particularly lovely to see. As we have quite a few joint outings with the groups, different members have got to know each other well which assists with seating as they do not mind where they sit these days.
We are planning quite a few other events for the future including our November client function (formerly a Garden Party) which this year will be held at Knox City Council as, sadly, Millers Homestead is unavailable for groups this year. We are also planning a fundraiser in the form of an auction to be held on 11 November (rememberance day) at Bayswater Uniting Church Hall.
