Doncare's Cultural Evenings
As part of the CALD Agency Response for DHS, Doncare has been organising cultural evenings for both volunteers and staff. The aim of the evenings is to bring people together on a social level, promote the different training and volunteering opportunities available at Doncare and ultimately to learn about different cultures.
Each night we have a guest speaker who can share with us their intimate knowledge of their culture and heritage. Recently we had an Italian Evening with Frank Di Blasi from Coasit as guest speaker. We have also had a Greek Culture night, featuring a presentation from Eugenia Georgopolous from the Australian Greek Welfare Society. Both evenings were well attended and enjoyed by all!
Doncare's next cultural evening was held on the 25th August and focused on the Chinese Culture. The event took place at Bamboo Terrace in Bulleen at a cost of $10. The guest speaker was Wina Kung, the Multicultural Equity and Access Worker from the Migrant Information Centre. The wonderful Asian cuisine provided on the night will included a variety of rice and noodle dishes, along with Chicken Sweet Corn Soup and Chinese Tea.
